Eco-Friendly Adventure Day

Devil’s Dash is an eco-friendly adventure race through 50 acres of natural challenges and unique obstacles. Be prepared for mud, hills, and surprises. There will be a 10K option in 2018!
Devil’s Dash occurs adjacent to Cedar Lakes Woods & Gardens, a non-profit botanical garden with over 50 unique garden displays, beautiful waterfalls and ponds, and incredible breathtaking views! Registration includes the 5K/10K race, garden admission, free vegan food samples and snacks, a t-shirt, medal, and memories you’ll never forget :). Registration is now open at www.devilsdash.org. Brian Brown the Younger is a musician from Tampa playing soulful instrumental guitar with influences from trip hop, post rock, psychedelic rock, and Americana. His fans have described him as being a “pretty alright dude” and having a “mega chill vibe, man”.

Straight from the mountains of North Carolina, the now Tampa based acoustic folk/indie duo, The Fickle Souls are taking music back to its roots, keeping it simple, and keeping it pure. The band was founded in late 2012 when singer/songwriter Cal Olivier decided to move in a new direction, feeling that folk music would allow him to express a truer range of emotion and life experience.

The duo now consists of Cal Olivier on the Guitar and Kick Drum and Hannah Irene on the Harmonium.

Cal Olivier & the Fickle Souls have collectively shared the stage, and studio with the likes of; Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Tommy Tutone, Greg Hawks (The Cars), Rehab, Steel Pulse, Keller Williams, John Paul White (The Civil Wars), along with many more.

UF Open House

Come one, come all to the UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s Annual Open House, set for April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The college and our UF veterinary students work together to put on this wonderful, fun and educational event each year for the community. And it’s all free!

  • Tours of the UF Large and Small Animal Hospitals (ongoing)
  • How to Get Into Veterinary School/Pre-Vet Advising Sessions
  • Talks and Educational Demonstrations will highlight various techniques used by UF veterinarians to treat animals for a variety of health problems (ongoing)
  • Demonstrations by the Marion County mounted patrol, Gainesville Police Department’s K-9 team, and the Alachua County K-9 unit
  • Lameness Locator Demonstrations
  • Equine Treadmill Demonstrations
  • Dog Agility Demonstrations
  • Games and prizes for kids provided by CVM student organizations
  • Food truck rally featuring local eateries
  • Teddy Bear Clinic for the kids – bring your torn teddy bears for repair by UF veterinary students and the Alachua Veterinary Medical Association (ongoing)
  • Gypsy Gold Vanner Horses (ongoing)
  • Gainesville Rabbit Rescue will perform hourly handling demonstrations
  • Chris P. Bacon, the pig on wheels (ongoing)
  • ASPCA Forensic Crime Scene Mobile Unit (ongoing)
  • Special appearance by Albert and Alberta (noon-1:00 p.m.)

Adoption Event @ Bill Bryan Subaru in Leesburg

If you were looking for some fun and in the Leesburg area this Saturday, Feb 20th, stop by Bill Bryan Subaru anytime from 10a-4p.

On site will be rescues, shelters, and adoption agencies from all over central Florida featuring cats, dogs, bird, and our BUNNIES! 🙂
